Ongoing Dispute Between Fairfield County Neighbors Escalates With Stadium Lights

A longstanding - and well documented - feud between two neighbors in Fairfield County came to a head when a husband and wife were taken into police custody for allegedly harassing their neighbor and failing to cooperate with investigators.

For several years, Westport resident John Borg has been in a dispute with his elderly Sterling Drive neighbor, which required police and court intervention on multiple occasions.

Last month, Borg was arrested for allegedly spraying toxic chemicals on the neighbor’s vegetable garden and backyard. On Sept. 12, detectives executed a search warrant at their home during which Borg’s wife, Alison was allegedly uncooperative, police said.

“(She) was uncooperative and refused to allow investigators access to various parts of the home including an attached garage and home office,” police noted. “For approximately an hour, investigators attempted to reason with Borg and have her provide access to the spaces, but she refused.”

According to police, Borg lied to detectives, stating she did not have access to the attached garage or home office, whose door bore the name, "Many Gates". She claimed to have no affiliation with "Many Gates.” However, further investigation showed Alison Schor - her maiden name - was the president, secretary and treasurer of the Many Gates Healing Arts Center, P.C.

When detectives were able to access the office space, they observed certificates for Alison Borg (Schor) and John Borg. There was no evidence of the space being used by anyone else. Entry was eventually forced into the garage, which housed a car registered under the name of Borg’s business.

During the initial search of the home, Alison Borg’s phone was also seized and later searched. When checked, it had photographs of the spaces she claimed not to have access and an arrest warrant was approved for her. John Borg’s phone was also seized, but the content had been wiped remotely and its contents deleted. An arrest for tampering with evidence was also approved for his arrest.

Police were again called to the home on Oct. 4, when John Borg allegedly erected three stadium-style lights, that pointed directly at his neighbor’s property and activated several times overnight. An arrest warrant application for Borg was submitted to the court and later approved.

An attorney representing the neighbor said that his firm “is not in a position to discuss anything about an ongoing case involving the Borgs."

John Borg turned himself in at police headquarters on Oct. 17, where he was charged with tampering with evidence, public disturbance and two counts of criminal violation of a protective order. He is being held by police in lieu of $300,000.

While transporting him to Norwalk Court for arraignment, officers spotted Alison Borg sitting in the courtroom and she was arrested on the outstanding warrant. She was charged with interference with a police search and released on $10,000 bond. Both Borgs are scheduled to appear in court this week.
